eReader for Blackberry Curve

I recently came into acquaintance with Blackberry, but for my part was not happy about it.
Every eReader I downloaded didn't work properly coming up with some problem or the other.
Mobipocket worked just fine on my previous device,
but not with this 'handheld.'
Quite frantic, and irritated and all I could do was
glare down at that sleek device that isn't accommodating my needs.
So this is what I found on technobuzz (a great website), but still have to experiment with on said device.

Its the second of December, its 2:58 in the morning, and I am up.

Well, to justify that, I was busy preparing my module to submit to my tutor tomorrow and guess what?

Somebody, peeked in my window.
Not literally, this window.
I have one comment.

I can't say that I'm exactly happy about it though..
I kinda liked the feeling that my blog was open out there, yet it seemed impossible for anybody to knock on it.

Well it happened apparently, it was a call unto me, to move it.
The past months wasn't happy, that's what family does...they make you worry, and if you worry, they worry, and you know everything ain't right.

But hopefully soon. Not just the windows, but doors are going to open for us.

The Feeling of Importance

According to the ‘Big secret of dealing with people’, in Dale Carnegie’s book ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People’, there is only one way to get anybody to do anything and that is to make that person want to do it.

It all ultimately comes down to people wanting to be important.

How hard these people try, and to what lengths they strive to reach their goal: Importance. This book gives countless examples of people in history.

How much research did Dale Carnegie go through to come to this conclusion?

Take this from Mr Carnegie’s book:

“Lincoln once began a letter by saying, ‘everybody likes a compliment.’ And William James said, ‘The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.’”

And I, without even finish reading this chapter wasn’t surprised.

Why?

Islam already gave it to us on a silver platter more that 1400 years ago, by telling us:

Allah (swt) Lord of the whole universe, He is Al-Shakour ‘The Most-Appreciative.’

“And never is your Lord forgetful…” (Qur’an, 19:64)

If Allah (God) is appreciative of our good deeds than who are we? Because God is independent of man, he does not need to be appreciative of our good deeds, but he is.

Not forgetting, and being appreciative, all but sums up where Humans lack. These two qualities if humans adopt with each other, will definitely instill a feeling of ‘Importance’in one another.

And again on the topic of importance, Dale Carnegie says, ‘this desire makes you want to wear the latest styles, drive the latest cars, and talk about your brilliant children.’

Allah (God) told us in the Quran regarding the phases of man in Surah Hadeed (57): Verse 20.

‘Know that the life of this world is nothing but play and pastime, and adornment, and boasting amongst yourselves, and the desire to surpass each other in wealth and children...’

This verse is so great, that human’s entire life, is portioned into 5 distinct phases:

— When you were a child, all that mattered was play

— As you grew into adolescence, just hanging around and wasting time in useless pursuits was everything in life

— As you became a teenager, and entered early manhood,
looking good and adorning yourself took center-stage

— Then came the stage when boasting of achievements in
career and business was commonplace

— As you grew older, your main concern was to rival others in

wealth; and gloat over the achievements of your children

Everything is there in Islam.
We just have to learn 'where' to look, and its a Beautiful journey.

The Qolşärif mosque - Ruusia

Look at this beautiful mosque in Kazan Russia.
Supposedly the largest mosque in Europe excluding, Turkey, of course.

"Although the present mosque was completed in 1996, it was based on the design of the original mosque built by the Qolşärif, or religious leader, who served there in the 16th century. The Qolşärif was martyred along with his students when the city of Kazan was invaded by Russian forces led by Ivan the Terrible in 1552."
It has quite a history too from the little that I've read on wikipedia.
Sadly, it seems that this mosque is not being used as a mosque at the moment, but more of a museum......

Makkah has Eid tomorrow, 29 days for them this year.

Khatmul quran was awesome (the real meaning of that word) in the haramain last night.
Sheikh Sudais (of course) in Makkah and Sheikh Hussain aal sheikh this year in Madinah.

Eid Mubarak to all of those who are having Eid tomorrow. (although they won't see this message)

I hope this is better than the Vampire Academy series.
I didn't like the main character in there, Rose too much...and haven't completed the series.
But this whole new series, have the same characters from the VA series, including Adrain (I read somewhere) & set in the same world.

So Sheikh Abdul Muhsin did begin last night with the late night prayers.
His recitation was awesome. He led the first 6 rakats and Sheikh Huzayfi led the last 4 including the witr.

I was so tired after this, I went to sleep and missed sehri.
When Sid called me 3 minutes befor fajr azan, and asked me, 'what you doing? You only have time for water!'
All I said was, 'I'm sleeping.'

The last 10 days are only left of Ramadhan.

Makkah & Madinah began leading the Qiyam ul Layl or Tahujjud prayers.

It is so wonderful to watch it.
Us siblings take these last 10 days off (You should see the expression and poor fight out tutor puts up. Including Dad who admits he hasn't a say in the matter) but its so much fun. Especially with the 'three' of us. The fight over the remote, and the invention of our games, smiling Sid and the Mole catching fish and then denying it? Priceless!

Half ways are...not exactly sad, but its when you reached the middle.
Now you know what was the climb like, and so the descent will be somewhat similar.
You sort of got the 'view'.
Only, if the hill you're climbing, and you don't know what's on the other side, and so when you reach the top, you're surprised, and then the anticipation is getting to it.
Now that sounds a little muddled up, right?
Think of this:
You climbed and trudged up a hill. When you reach the top you look over and Behold! its the great ocean! so you run with lighter feet to get down to the water and waves....
And this is what I think about when we reach the 15th Of Ramadhan. the anticipation of the climb we have indeed begun, now we're at the top, and Eid is in sight. Its just downhill now, and the ocean is our reward, a blessed day of -Eid ul Fitr.

But what a wonderful month.
Divine surely.
And how many times will I wish? year after year that I spend it in a divine place?
My climb will be anticipating the travel, the packing, the flying, the first sight, the first call to prayer, the first prayer, the first day, the first night, the second day, the second night, the third day...there will be no halfway, just continous soaring in the blessed lands of the Ancient House of the One God and the Mosque of the greatest man, Our Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu alayhi wa sallam. Peace, Peace & PEACE.

Sharks

Whales are great too, but I think whales in the ocean are more in comparison to elephants on land??
Yeah I have seen whales and dolphins real close up in the ocean, but not sharks.
Gansbaai & Mossel Bay is the place to see sharks in Cape Town.
Cage Diving = once in a lifetime eye to eye contact with the great white sharks a mere arms length away.

Snow

Now that's something we don't have in South Africa, except on the mountain tops.

I remember the first time in about 2003? Yeah, that winter was very cold, and we heard that it was snowing in a place about three hours from where we lived. The next day at 6 in the morning my mom dad and we five siblings went on a road trip looking for snow.

We ended up seeing lots of snow - but only on the mountains....we were told by morning whatever snow had came down to the ground had already melted .

Then in 2007 amazingly it snowed where we lived. It was all over the radio, everybody was running outside trying to catch the feathery flakes as they fell. It was beautiful. And so we got to see about a millimetre of snow....too little to actually make a snow man or have a now ball fight, but I loved every moment of it.

I live in a suburb in Johannesburg, Gauteng and I hate it.
It’s claustrophobic
There is no ‘view’, and I can go on, and on.

But South Africa is beautiful country, just not my province i.e. Gauteng.
But go on a road trip; pass the vast open landscapes, its beautiful cattle, the mountains, and finally the ocean?

And it is a God given land for sure.

Even the Karoo has its charm.

But Gauteng? Gauteng is the home of Johannesburg CBD where the businesses run. Cities, lighted malls, posh cars, self loving snooty people...Other than that? Nah, just flat, dry land, with a few dams or lakes that people like us would drive for two hours on a Sunday just to see some water. Yeah, no kidding.

And I just dream of moving from this place, dream of living on an open estate......a farm, a ranch?
God, now that's a dream. A dream that can hardly come through for me.

YA Fiction Series that I quit..

Some YA fiction series gets me bored after reading one one or two of the books.
For an example; Maximum Ride By James Patterson.
I liked the first, and second book, but by the third book, I was starting to grow fed up of it.
I don't like that too much of a 'hero' or 'heroine' characters, you know? And Max was becoming a bit too much like that not to mention a bit highty tighty.
If anyone read this series, they'd probably see what I'm driving at.
Take a simple scene at the end of the fourth book 'The Final Warning'. The 'Global Warming' speech, that a fourteen year old is giving to the world..That's when I quit.

Another YA Fiction Series I quit on the way was:
The Gone Series By Micheal Grant.
I liked the character of Sam Temple that Micheal Grant portrayed.
But the plot, the Drake, Cain and their cronies 'activities' were a bit morbid don't you think? And a bit drawn out?

P.S. Anyway my thirteen year old sister is enjoying both the series very much. What can I say?

The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins

I have just completed the Hunger Games Trilogy. Sad to say, but I was kind of disappointed by the final book.

The Hunger games begin with Katniss Everdeen, the heroine of the story, volunteering to take the place of her little sister, Prim, in the cruel Games the Capitol host yearly.

Each year one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen are picked to participate in the annual Hunger Games, to fight until death on live TV.

And thus begins an interesting trilogy, of a country based in the future called Panem, a Capitol surrounded by twelve districts, where once stood North America, and is now ruled by an evil President Snow.

Catching Fire - The second book in the Hunger Games Trilogy.

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, are now victors.

Unfortunately, that is not the happy ending. Because if you don't play the game according to President Snow, he'll just have to show you how you have to play, or else...

And so the second book begins, with a whole new challenge awaiting Katniss who finds herself the face of an uprising rebellion.

Mockingjay - The Final book in the Hunger Games Trilogy.

Katniss Everdeen, against all odds, has survived the Hunger Games twice.

And President Snow is not happy at all.

With a full war on, against all her family, friends and District 12, Katniss is now finally, but not truly by her own will, the Mockingjay.

With everyone in danger, and Peeta unsafe somewhere while being ruthlessly tortured, Katniss is determined kill President Snow herself.

Anyway, the first book was the best - New, thrilling and full of suspense. I hated the love triangle between Katniss, Gale and Peeta. It seems like these days, most of the young adult fiction authors’ loves writing romance and can’t avoid bringing in this common style. I can list many books that I’ve read recently with this theme, and honestly? I’m fed up of it!

Anyway the turn in character of Katniss Everdeen, her disloyalty and total inconsideration the way she had treated Gale towards the end, was totally selfish not to mention unjust.

Last but not least, I have to admire Suzanne Collins poems.

The two poems that I’ve read in these books were wonderful!

Deep in the Meadow’ and 'The Hanging Tree.

Hi to Myself.

I once gave up on blogs, but I decided to start it up again, and see how far I can take blogging.
This blog no one know about yet, so I'm just going to post Random Stuff in the meantime.
I decided to call the blog 'Open A Window For Me' because that is the title of a Poem/song I once wrote, that sort of describe my life.
So if by the rare chance some 'outsider' trespass on my blog, Good Luck! But just please don't trample all over the show.
